Bright South American charm. Tropical hibiscus flower, native to Latin America, is hand-painted. Many people would be surprised to learn that the artisans who craft these towels live in makeshift homes built from wood scraps. While many of these craftswomen are poorly educated, they are blessed with innate talent. The crafts guild Amofavelas helps them to harness their skills to craft these colorful, handmade towels. Our local contact writes, “The women involved in the project have changed so much! They have a good time fellowshipping and working.” Their work provides them with greater economic stability, even in the midst of the favela, or slum. Red hand-crocheted trim. Soft 100 percent cotton. Machine wash cold. (16-by-27)
