About this Artisan: Threads of Yunnan Although women in Yunnan, China, performed backbreaking field work all day with little rest, they only made $36 a year—not enough money to feed their children and send them to school. Now, with the help of Threads of Yunnan, they are able to use their embroidery skills to make $12 a month. Also, the artisan group trains women in literacy, hygiene, nutrition, and money management, giving these women a brighter future.
