Through a beautifully illustrated story, The Colors of Us explains that while we all look different, we all share many of the same qualities. The storybook’s main character, Lena, discovers that she and her friends and neighbors all have different yet beautiful skin colors. Author Karen Katz wrote The Colors of Us as an appreciation of her adopted Guatemalan daughter and the diversity that surrounds them. The pictures of Lena, her friends, and her neighbors celebrate the different hues of individual people.
